Goa University was established in June 1985 by an Act of Goa Government, incorporating the then existing Centre for Post Graduate Instruction and Research of the University on Bombay, with 13 teaching Departments and 17 affiliated colleges. From a modest beginning in 1985, the University has, over the past 33 years, established itself and expanded across 12 faculties, with 24 post graduate departments and three research centres on its campus with 55 affiliating professional and general education colleges.
V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education has tied up with Turismo de Portugal for “Collaborative International Training and Education program”. This exchange program is aimed at creating an awareness of the importance of training for the development and sustainability of tourism activity in both the countries as well as considering the mutual interest to encourage and develop the training and qualification of human resources working in the field of tourism. The objective is to increase the interaction between teachers and students and thus increase the cooperation as well as to promote the professional knowledge and cultural integration in the fields of hospitality and tourism between Portugal and India.
The program will focus on specialised training for students and mentoring for teachers. The institute will identifies the faculty member/s to provide mentorship for each student group involved in this professional interchange experience. The specialised program is of 4 weeks duration which will involve organising work practicum lessons, cultural field trips and visits to companies in the tourism sector. They will facilitate student accommodation during their stay.
Upon successful completion of the period of training, the students/teachers are issued a Certificate of Training by the respective institutions.
